The Silencer-Separator receives high-temperature, high-velocity gasses, and water mixture discharged from the vacuum pump. Liquids and gasses are separated with water recycled and gasses safely vented. At the same time separation is occurring, the silencing function reduces discharge noise to safe levels. Without the Silencer-Separator, operation of liquid ring vacuum pumps in industrial plants would create conditions too dangerous and hazardous for workers.
Until the development of the Monarch II Silencer-Separator, silencers have been constructed mostly of carbon steel. When subjected to harsh chemicals, high temperatures, and corrosive and erosion forces, carbon steel silencers quickly degrade and fail. Failure of internal components allows water to enter the gas or air discharge creating corrosive and unsafe working areas around the vacuum pump system.
